Our progress 2018-2024
In 2024, ASTRO 3D conducted a membership (climate) survey, building on surveys conducted in 2018 and 2021. These surveys aimed to understand how members fit into, engage with, and benefit from the Centre.
Many of the same questions were asked across the three surveys to assess changes resulting from policies and initiatives implemented over the Centre's lifetime. The final survey also included new questions to capture insights into ASTRO 3D's legacy and achievements.
A key takeaway from the survey is that ASTRO 3D’s enduring legacy lies in its contributions to equity, diversity, and inclusion, as well as fostering collaborations among researchers across Australia, significantly enhancing the culture and scientific landscape of astronomy research.
As ASTRO 3D concludes, the survey results offer valuable lessons on implementing effective policies and cultivating positive environments in astronomy departments and future Centres of Excellence across Australia.
