Biography

Manisha Caleb specialises in radio transients, particularly fast radio bursts (FRBs). FRBs, are currently one of the biggest unsolved and most tantalising mysteries of astrophysics. They are extremely bright radio flashes in the sky that last about a thousandth of a second and are about a billion times brighter than anything even remotely similar in our Galaxy. FRBs are powerful tracers of ionized gas and cosmic baryons in the ISM, galactic halos, and the IGM. She is interested in unravelling the engines and environs of FRBs and characterizing their use as effective cosmological probes to study and understand the Universe in new and unique ways.
