The ARC Centre of Excellence for All Sky Astrophysics in 3 Dimensions (ASTRO 3D) is an Australian Research Council-funded Centre of Excellence. As part of our funding agreement with the Federal Government, we undertake a rigorous and comprehensive external performance review, conducted by the ARC in our fourth year of operation (which has been delayed due to COVID-19).
The review evaluates the Centre’s performance since its establishment, against the Terms of Reference and continuation of our funding for the remaining years of the Funding Period is dependent on the outcome of the review.
ASTRO 3D as the Centre and ANU as the Administering Organisation have both provided written submissions to the ARC. Our submission is downloadable from the link below and includes:
- Information on the Centre’s achievements and progress against each of the objectives of the ARC Centre of Excellence Scheme
- Information on the Centre’s achievements and progress against the specific Centre objectives and performance targets or milestones as set out in the Centre proposal and the Funding Agreement
- Information on the Centre’s key challenges and the mitigation strategies in place to address these issues. This may include the Centre’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic
- Information on the Centre’s management and structure, including the leadership role of the Centre Director and the extent to which high-quality staff and students are attracted to the Centre
- A strategic plan outlining the Centre’s operations, goals and objectives for the remaining period of funding
The review will be conducted by a panel chaired by an ARC Executive Director and two independent external experts. The review panel will consider documentation relevant to the Centre, provided by the ARC, the Centre and ANU written submissions and Centre Stakeholders. They will also conduct a series of interviews. The Panel Interviews for ASTRO 3D will be held on 3 and 4 June 2021.
