HOW WILL THE VIRTUAL SCIENCE MEETING WORK?

This year, we are having a one-day virtual event on Friday, 5 June 2020.

We will hold a Zoom interactive Webinar from 10am AEST (8am AWST). You will receive your URL once you register.

Zoom Webinars are a little different from normal Zoom Meetings. Zoom Webinars have a Host (session chairs) and Participants (presenters) that control the meeting and present. The Host and Participants are seen, heard and control the screen. The Attendees (audience) will join the webinar via a URL which you will receive once you register,  but are not seen or heard. They may interact through Q&A and answer polls initiated by the Participant.

We will record the entire Webinar and put it up on the Intranet and Slack so you can view it later.

The event occurs virtually, which means you just have to log in with the URL provided, which you will receive once you have registered.

[/et_pb_accordion_item][et_pb_accordion_item title=”How can I ask speakers questions during the event?” _builder_version=”4.4.2″ open=”off”]

Each live session will have a Session Chair (co-host) to monitor the Q&A coming in.

Due to time constraints, we ask that only the Overviews given by CIs have questions answered live by the speaker. We will leave the questions for the 10-minute new science talks to be answered offline line after the event.

The Audience will be able to comment and upvote the questions, so the hosts can determine which questions should be answered during live session (Overview talks only). The speakers will do their best to answer as many questions as possible during the live presentation.

[/et_pb_accordion_item][et_pb_accordion_item title=”Will there be opportunities to communicate with the speakers after their specific session?” _builder_version=”4.4.2″ open=”off”]

We will create a specific Slack channel for the Virtual Science meeting where we will create threads for each presentation. Each session chair (Host) will put the questions asked up there and you can interact with the speaker in each thread.

[/et_pb_accordion_item][et_pb_accordion_item title=”Will I have access to the sessions after the Virtual Science Meeting has concluded?” _builder_version=”4.4.2″ open=”off”]

We will record all sessions and upload the recordings to the Virtual Science Meeting Slack channel after the session has concluded.
