Biography

Andrew Connolly is a professor of astronomy at the University of Washington. He holds the William P. and Ruth Gerberding University Professorship in the Astronomy Department and is the Associate Vice Provost for Data Science. He was the founding director of the DiRAC Institute at the University of Washington and is currently the Director of the eScience Institute. He is an internationally recognized expert in the field of statistics and machine learning, working at the forefront of statistics and data intensive astrophysics. He has published more than 150 peer-reviewed articles with over 30,000 citations and co-authored the book "Statistics, Data Mining and Machine Learning in Astronomy”, which was awarded the International Astrostatistics Association’s Outstanding Publication Award for 2016.
