Biography

I am an Honours student at ANU, working with Andrew Battisti on studying the dust attenuation in galaxies, using data from SAMI and MAGPI. In particular, I am looking at how the attenuation in a galaxy might depend on things like its mass, metallicity, or redshift. This purpose of this research is to allow for the development of a prescription that can be applied to galaxies as a way to estimate their amount of dust attenuation and hence apply a correction to their spectra, without the need for measuring the amount of attenuating dust directly. A prescription like this will hopefully be applied to future spectroscopic measurements of unresolved galaxies to allow for accurate calculations of their properties.
