Biography
Jesse van de Sande is an observational astronomer working with integral field and near-infrared spectroscopic data of galaxies at low and high redshift. His research focuses on how massive galaxies form, evolve, and die, with a strong affinity towards using stellar kinematics to understand mass assembly. Within the SAMI Galaxy Survey team he works on stellar kinematic measurements. He also works on high-redshift galaxies (z=1-2) using X-Shooter and VIMOS-VLT as part of the LEGA-C survey. Most recently, he has been studying the dynamics of Milky Way analogues with VLT-MUSE.
