Biography

Krzysztof Bolejko is a physicist and senior lecturer at the School of Natural Sciences in the Physics Discipline. His field of expertise is theoretical cosmology. He is interested in the evolution of cosmic structures, especially cosmic voids. Krzysztof is passionate about physics and shares his enthusiasm for science with students and via his outreach activities he aims at inspiring younger generations to study STEM. Krzysztof joined the University of Tasmania as the ARC Future Fellow and a senior lecturer in physics. Before coming to Tasmania, Krzysztof held a number of prestigious fellowships, such as the Gruber Foundation Fellowship, Fulbright Fellowship, Group of Eight Fellowship, and Marie Curie-Sklodowska Fellowship. In his work, Krzysztof studies the properties of dark matter, dark energy, and the nature of gravity. His contribution to the development of the field includes works on the formation of structures within exact inhomogeneous models and the investigation of light propagation. Krzysztof is most known for his work on the Szekeres models and his engagement in numerical cosmology and investigation of cosmic voids (cosmic voids are vast regions that are avoided by galaxies). His work on light propagation effects resulted in the development the Doppler magnification method, which can be used to measure the mass of cosmic voids. Krzysztof is a member of the Legacy Survey for Space and Time (LSST) and aims to use the LSST data to map so far uncharted cosmic voids.
