Biography

PhD UC Berkeley 2005, Hubble Fellow at Princeton 2005-2008, assistant and associate professor UC Santa Cruz 2008-2015, professor at ANU 2015 - present My research interests focus on the first stars and first galaxies. Apart from exploring early supernovae behaviour and extreme physics, their potentially high levels of luminosity provide an opportunity to advance research in areas such as exploring interstellar/ intergalactic line-of-sight gas clouds, their role in the reionization of the intergalactic medium, early universe metal enrichment, constraining the top end of the IMF - even possibly a new independent test of cosmology.
