Biography
Associate Professor at University of Tasmania I am an expert in analytical and numerical modelling of radio Active Galactic Nuclei and their interaction with host galaxies and larger-scale environment. I believe that this expertise will be useful for supporting the Genesis Simulations, which at present are notably missing the radio AGN component in both N-body and hydrodynamic galaxy formation modelling. Other groups are beginning to include radio AGN in their galaxy formation models. As an example, the GALFORM semi-analytic model (Durham) are currently using my group’s RAiSE radio AGN dynamical model (Turner & Shabala 2015, Turner et al. 2018a,b) as a template for this work. [We have fielded a number of technical queries from the PhD student responsible for that work.] My group at the University of Tasmania consists of four PhD students working on various aspects of analytical and numerical modelling of radio jets, integration of jet and galaxy formation models, and application of models to radio continuum surveys.
