ASTRO 3D is committed to reducing the impact of the Centre on the environment and improving our environmental sustainability.

To that end, we have developed two best-practice guidelines which improve how we run events and how we purchase merchandise.

Members have also done calculations on our carbon footprint and encouraging a ‘zero waste to landfill’ life.

Additionally, the Astronomical Society of Australia has produced a Sustainability Statement, which will guide Australian astronomy efforts in reducing the impact of global warming through:

  • Power generation for facilities used by astronomers, especially supercomputing centres (60% overall contribution)
  • Airline travel to conferences and committee meetings (20% overall contribution)
